Heard of Flutterwave before?!

It is a fintech startup company Lagos and San Francisco who’s main focus is providing a payments solution for African business owners to transact online securely.

As of April 2020, Flutterwave launched an eBay or Jumia like merchandise portal for the African entrepreneur. To African entrepreneurs and SME’s, this is GOOD news.

In 2019, Alibaba the Chinese e-commerce giant’s payments division Alipay joined forces with Flutterwave, which was an earlier milestone for the startup to usher the continent into e-commerce.

Even though Flutterwave is offering a product that is similar to Facebook’s (available in Nigeria by the time this was written) and Jumia’s Marketplace, the goal is not to be like either one of them.

It’s not a direction change. We’re still a B2B payment infrastructure company. We are not moving into becoming an online retailer, and no we’re not looking to become Jumia
